Nakamura now serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sumitomo Corporation Chairman, Japan Foreign Trade Council, Inc. Vice-Chair, Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) and Economic Consultant，Shandong Provincial Government.

Nakamura joined Sumitomo Corporation in 1974, served as Minister of Automobile Department, Executive Director of Special Affairs, Deputy President and then President. He took up his present post in April 2018. In March 2019, Nakamura was hired as the economic consultant to the Shandong provincial government.
