The Qingdao Multinationals Summit was held from October 19 to 20 in Qingdao. With the approval the State Council, the Ministry of Commerce and the Shandong provincial government decided to implement Xi’s important instruction which is “bolstering a city by hosting an excellent meeting” making Shandong a new platform of opening up.

The Information Office of the People’s Government of Shandong Province and China Report Press jointly held a foreign media reporting activity with the theme of “New Shandong Momentum Marks a New Day for China’s Opening-up” from October 9 to 12, aiming to enhance the international community’s understanding of the economic and social development of Shandong and create a sound public opinion environment for the upcoming Qingdao Multinationals Summit.

Journalists from the Associated Press, UPI, Der Spiegel, COLPISA, Yomiuri Shinbun, Anadolu Agency, KazInform and other international mainstream media was invited to this event and successively visited Jinan, Yantai and Qingdao feeling the development achievements of the multinationals in Shandong since the reform and opening.

China Review Studio is promoting a series of short videos recording their stories in Shandong and illustrating the charm of Shandong from the perspective of foreign media.

The actor of the first episode is Rafael Zerbetto, a journalist of Esperanto China.org.cn and China Report.  He is living in China already for four years and this is his first time here in Shandong province.

FESTO, a german-funded enterprise located in Jinan high-tech zone, is a global leader in automation technology with a history of over 100 years, focusing on providing pneumatic and electric drive products and solutions. Here Rafael felt the changes brought about by China's reform and opening up.

"The opening up is helping China to improve its industry and modernize it so I can see, for example, here FESTO is a company that is part of a German group so it relates to a partnership of two different countries. And so through this partnership, China can interchange technology with other countries.”

After few days of visiting and interviewing Rafael felt the   growing economic opportunities for multinationals in Chinese market.

“Nowadays, China offers opportunities for all. Not only Chinese companies are developing and growing very fast, but also foreign companies can find very big market in China and establishing partnership with local companies or even working by themselves. They can take advantages of the development of China.”

When talking about the Qingdao Multinationals Summit, he regarded it as a very meaningful summit.

“And then I think the Summit (QMS) in Qingdao is very important in that sense that many multinationals are coming here trying to find the good opportunities for invest in China.”
