Brian Gallagher: Why the Qingdao Multinationals Summit will benefit China and the world beyond?

The Qingdao Multinationals Summit will be held soon in mid-October. The summit will build a high-level platform focusing on the development and cooperation of multinational corporations in order to promote a new round of high-level opening up. And this summit will achieve positive contributions in implementing major development strategies such as the transformation of development drivers, rural revitalization and construction of a strong marine province in Shandong Province, as well as attracting high-quality investment and talents, and promoting the international cooperation of "Top Ten Industries".

Before the opening of the summit, in an interview with reporters, Brian Gallagher, CEO of United Way Worldwide, said that this summit is just one more opportunity for China and its partners around the world to focus on the continuing development of opening up. We need regular and consistent dialogue in meetings to enhance our mutual understanding for the coordinated development.

Shanghai Cooperation Organization Qingdao Summit was held successfully last year. According to the latest statistics released by Qingdao Customs on June 13, from June 2018 to May 2019, Shandong’s total import and export value of SCO countries reached 156.05 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 30.9%.

Talking about the expectations of this Qingdao summit, Brian Gallagher said, “This summit is focused on economic development across countries and across regions. And I think if the summit can not only focus on the economic development, but also pay attention to the development of humanities exchanges, making people living in those countries respected and built into the development itself, then it’s a positive thing.”
