Approved by the State Council and co-organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Shandong province, Qingdao Multinationals Summit opened on October 19 in Qingdao, Shandong province. At the Summit, Gu Xueming, dean of the research institute of the Ministry of Commerce released Multinationals in China: 40 Years of Investment (hereinafter referred as the Report).

Entrusted by the by the people's government of Shandong province, the Report was co-written by the research institute of the Ministry of Commerce and the Shandong provincial department of commerce. It systematically reviews the development of multinationals in China over the past 40 years, summarizing their achievements and contributions to China's economic development.   

The report proves China's determination to further opening-up, and reflects the high positioning and responsibility of Shandong province in summing up China's achievements since opening-up. Gu Xueming said that as a high-level national think tank, the research institute of the Ministry of Commerce attached great importance to the Report. They organized a group of prestigious foreign investment experts and scholars to write the Report trying to offer something to read and think to the guests.
