Asia Symbol has contributed to the innovative, green and high-quality development of the pulp and paper industry in Shandong province.

Asia Symbol (Shandong) Pulp and Paper Co was established by Singapore-based RGE (Royal Golden Eagle), a globally integrated, resource-based industrial group, in the city of Rizhao in 2005.

After years of development, the company has developed into the largest foreign-funded enterprise in Shandong and the biggest wood pulp producer in China, serving as an example in pulp and paper industrial upgrading, technological progress and green development.

According to the company, it operates the largest single pulp line and has the most advanced processes, technology and environmental performance in the world.

The company spent 540 million yuan ($79.49 million) on research and development in 2019 and has grown into a national high-tech enterprise with many high-level innovation platforms. Much of the company's R&D has won national and provincial-level science and technology achievement awards.

Last year, it invested 930 million yuan to build the Lyocell fibre production base, which has been listed as a key project in Shandong and will contribute to the province's efforts to replace old growth drivers with new ones and help fuel its high-quality development.

Lyocell is a natural, manmade material made from wood cellulose or pulp by using an advanced solvent spinning process.

The project was put into operation in April this year and will promote the development of the new materials industry in Rizhao.

With total investment exceeding 20 billion yuan, the company has grown from a single pulp and paper factory into an industrial cluster, driving the development of papermaking, printing, packaging, chemistry, logistics, storage and other related industries.
