What is the role of multinationals playing in China's economy? The first Qingdao Multinationals Summit was held on October 19 and President Xi Jinping gave a precise answer to this question in his congratulatory letter to this Summit -- “In China's more than 40 years of reform and opening up, multinationals have played an active role as important participants, witnesses and beneficiaries.”

China held this Summit under a backdrop of sluggish global trade and investment to demonstrate its determination of further opening up. 115 Fortune 500 companies, 284 leading companies and more than 5,100 guests attended the Summit. All these numbers  suggested the importance multinationals place on China's opportunities and their confidence in China's further opening up.

Chen Zhong, president of China Communication Construction Company, suggested that the Qingdao  Multinationals Summit provides more opportunities for companies to learn about the outside world and further strengthen exchanges. A successful Summit is not only good for the enterprises themselves, but also good for the overall economic development of Shandong. It is also good for multinationals to further expand their international vision and strengthen international cooperation.
