Ian Goldin: The Qingdao Multinationals Summit is another win-win cooperation for China and the world
China Report | Updated:2019-06-22 10:09:16

In mid-October, Qingdao Multinationals Summit will be held in Shandong Province.

Shandong Province is opening up to a wider, broader and higher level. For example, Shandong Province is working hard to integrate deeply into the “Belt and Road Initiative” international cooperation circle of friends, to create an efficient and transparent business environment, to improve the capacity of attracting investment and talents, and to promote institutional innovation. The road of development is getting wider and wider for Shandong Province.

Ian Goldin, Professor of Oxford Martin School, thinks that holding the Qingdao Multinationals Summit is part of China’s globalization strategy and also promotes the trade cooperation. “It’s good for China. It increases jobs, increases incomes, and it’s good for the world because it provides more opportunity for investors from around the world, for consumers from around the world.” he said.

When talking about expectations for the Qingdao Multinationals Summit, Ian Goldin said, “I think it’s likely to improve the understanding of the policies. These summits serve a good purpose for people to hear the latest information, to ask questions to get confidence and of course to network with relevant people.” In a more practical way, “It might be effective in helping them when they’re making their decisions, investment decisions, expansion decisions or to address any concerns they may have.”
