Jinan rolls out policies to boost construction industry

Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province recently rolled out a series of policies to help promote high-quality development of its construction industry, according to local officials.

They said the measures cover the development of companies, the development of the market, credit evaluation and market supervision of the construction industry.

Under the initiatives, the local government will help nurture a number of leading companies, to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises in the construction market.

Officials said that more efforts will be made to develop a headquarters economy in construction industry and encourage more construction companies to set up branches in the city, by issuing preferential policies.

In addition, the city will promote the merger and restructuring of construction businesses, to promote high-quality development.

The new policies will focus on accelerating scientific and technological innovation in the field of construction and also aim to attract more high-level talent to relocate to the city.

Officials said the construction industry has played a key role for the city in creating jobs, attracting investment, increasing tax revenue and improving its urban development.

Last year, the total output value of Jinan's construction industry hit 390.2 billion yuan ($57.66 billion), a year-on-year increase of 21.3 percent.

During the same period, the sector's added value totaled 95 billion yuan, up 16.5 percent.
