Depth Report on the “two sessions” | Economic “decoupling” Is not a Good Prescription

From 2018 to 2019, the global economic growth rate continued to slow down and showed a long-term downward trend. In particular, the spread of COVID-19 in early 2020 has made the world's economic growth sluggish and unclear in the short term.

Guo Weimin, the spokesperson for the press of ‘two sessions’, pointed out that no matter how difficult it is, China's policy of opening up will not change, China's adherence to peaceful development and win-win cooperation will not change, and China's efforts to actively build a community with a shared future for mankind will not change.

"At present, there are some 'anti-globalization' ideological trends in the world. Some people proposed to move transnational companies back to their home countries, and some people claimed to encourage their economies to decouple from China. But at the same time, we can also see that most leaders and mainstream public opinion in the international community still call on all countries to strengthen unity and keep the global industrial chain and supply chain open. Some recent surveys also showed that many multinational companies are not willing to withdraw from other countries, including from China, and there are a lot of new companies continuing to invest in China and looking forward to new cooperation, " Guo said.

The COVID-19 epidemic has indeed brought difficulties to international economic cooperation, but it also exemplifies its importance. In the context of the global public health crisis, mankind has always been a community of shared destiny. No country can stay out of it and be alone. No global challenge can be solved by the power of one country. Only by adhering to solidarity and cooperation can we finally overcome the difficulties.
